Gareth Bale signs new £750,000-a-week Real Madrid deal till 2022

Welshman has put pen to paper on deal £195MILLION to keep him at Bernabeu for next 5½ years

GARETH BALE has signed a new Real Madrid deal till 2022 – putting halt to Manchester United’s hopes of bringing him back to Premier League.

The Welshman has signed a stunning £750,000-a-week deal, making him among the best-paid players on the planet.

Bale has won two Champions League titles since joining Los Blancos in 2013 for a then world record £85million.

The new deal takes him closer to the pay packet of team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo – and bumps up his pay-cheque from £525,000-a-week.

With the 52 per cent tax-rate in Spain, that means Bale will bank £360,000 after the taxman has had his slice of the cake.

Bale has netted four times for Real this season – with the 11-time European champs storming to the top of La Liga.

The 27-year-old has netted 62 times for Los Blancos since joining from Tottenham in 2013 and has been a key component in the side built around goal-machine Ronaldo.

But Bale is not only a hero at the Bernabeu, he is now an international legend for Wales after blasting them to the Euro 2016 semi-finals in France last summer.

Ronaldo had the upper-hand in that game though, as Portugal beat the Welsh 2-0 with goals from the Real ace and Nani.

Manchester United have long been interested in bringing Bale back to England.

In fact, they twice tried to sign him before he moved to Spurs from Southampton in 2007 and again when he switched to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid were also keen to keep one of their prize assets at the club before their Fifa transfer ban kicks in next year.

They cannot register new players over the next two windows.

Bale’s Madrid team-mate Ronaldo is also in negotiations over a similar bank-busting deal – although Real are stalling on offering him a five-year contract as he will be 32 in February.

Cardiff-born superstar Bale is understood to want to stay at Madrid, even if an offer did come in from United.

He was overtaken as the world’s most expensive player by Paul Pogba, who joined United for £89million earlier this year.
