AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso says he and his side need to ‘raise the bar’ next season.
The Rossoneri finished sixth after another rollercoaster campaign in 2017-18, with Gattuso taking over in November following a mixed start under Vincenzo Montella.
Further changes are expected this summer with incomings and outgoings but Gattuso’s history with the club as a player, and the way he has progressed the Milan team during his time in the dugout, means he is likely to be given a chance to mould the squad.
The 40-year-old still carries the competitive streak that characterised his playing career and has demanded everyone at San Siro up their game next term.
“From everyone. Performing well isn’t enough,” he said. “We need to raise the bar from the very first day of pre-season. To do that, we need desire and not to be happy with what we have.
“I expect more from myself and from whoever works with me because we have made some mistakes.
“We need to improve too.”
