The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie says they take full responsibility for the Black Stars’ inability to qualify for the FIFA 2018 World Cup.

The Black Stars of Ghana will not participate in the global tournament for the first time since 2006 following a disappointing qualifying campaign.

“I will not blame anybody [else] for our failure to qualify but the Ghana FA,” Afriyie told Happy FM.

“If we took credit for qualifying the team to three World Cups, we should equally take the blame for failing to the lead the team to the tournament this time around.”

Ghana, who are under the guidance of Kwesi Appiah, finished third in their qualifying group with Egypt booking their place in the finals as group winners.

The Black Stars recorded only one win, four draws and one defeat in Group E.

The four-time African champions will now be looking to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
