Golfers converge on Smokin Hills for golf tourney

Smokin Hills Golf Resort Ilara Mokin in Ondo State, arguably one of the leading golf courses in the West African sub-region, comes alive as the best of the country’s golf players converge there to celebrate the virtues of the late (Mrs) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo with a golf tournament this weekend.

A two-day yearly tournament sponsored by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL) making its 14th edition this year tees off on  Friday by professionals at 7:00 am while the amateur men and ladies will take to the enduring topography of the Smokin Hills. also at 7.00 am on Saturday to display their artistry on the course.

This year, the sponsors of the tournament, TNL have staked the sum of N5million for the winner of the Hole 13 and other mouth-watering prizes for the golfers to make this year’s edition an enduring golfing experience that will be hard to miss.

According to the Public Relations and Advert Manager TNL, Mrs Bukunola Ogunnusi, “this year’s Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Memorial Golf Tournament (EWOMGT), promises to leave an enduring golfing experience that will be hard to miss.

“The objective of management of TNL is to preserve the memory of the late Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo with all she lived for. It is worth noting that Toyota (Nigeria) Limited in its characteristic manner will be sponsoring hole 13 with a prize of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira only).

“One of the prizes to be won by golfers at the gala night climaxing the tournament is the AMIABLE WOMAN OF THE TOURNAMENT prize. This is a platform created by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited to further keep the vision of the deceased for the game of golf alive. It also aimed at continually nurturing the legacy and virtue of industry amongst women golfers. Indeed, the prize is symbolic of the amiable nature of the departed woman of substance.”

Equally to add glamour to the tournament, participants and guests would be treated to a Work & Play Auto Rally. The Rally is an initiative of DINKKIIA Limited (in collaboration with EWOMGT) aimed at infusing play into work using the auto rally as a platform to provide a veritable avenue for workers to unwind while testing the fire power of auto wonders on wheels.
