Golfers set for Crosscreek Captain’s Day inaugural tourney

A two-day Captain’s Inaugural tournament at Crosscreek Golf Club (CGC), Ilado-Akure, Ondo State to celebrate the newly-elected Captain, Mr Deji Akinwalere, scheduled for this weekend at the club’s premises is expected to attract up to 150 golfers.

Founder of CGC, Chief Shola Abidakun, disclosed that all is set to make the tournament a memorable one with the caliber of golfers showing interest in participating in the tourney.

“We are expecting about 150 golfers within and outside Nigeria in the tournament. The arrival and practice is scheduled for January 21 so as to familiarise with the course while the cocktail party will be held the same day at 7:00pm.

“We are ready to host and from the response we have had, we don’t have any doubt in our mind that it is going to be a wonderful golfing experience.

“Our grand patron, Ondo State governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu is going tee off the tournament on Saturday, January 22 alongside veteran golfers across the country.

“At present, we have nine holes and they are all green and all the nine greens are playable,” Abidakun said.

He stated that: “When you look at golf, for me, the private sector must be partner in progress because they have the potential to advertise their products, sell their products and have the ability to sponsor tournaments.

“So, with more involvement of private companies, the best of our golfers will be seen by playing different tournaments.”
