Captain of IGC, Barrister Idowu Salami disclosed to TribuneSport that both amateur and professional golfers across the country are featuring in the tournament which will be rounded off today at 6:00pm with presentation of prizes.
He noted that this year’s tournament would live up to expectations of the organisers, adding that the tourney after the tee off on Saturday morning has been an exciting one.
Salami stated that the successes recorded in the previous tournaments have helped in promoting tourism and hospitality businesses in the metropolis.
The Insurance Golf tournament is initiated and facilitated by one of our past captains who is an insurance broker, Chief Babajide Olatunde-Agbeja. He is a member of the trustees of the IGC,” he said.
Speaking with TribuneSport, Chief Agbeja said: “I am excited that we are set for the 5th Insurance Golf Open. When we started 1n 2012, I wanted the Insurance industry to contribute to the development of golf in Nigeria. Not only that they supported my idea to the fullest, we have many of my colleagues now playing golf.
“They were encouraged to play when their companies sponsored the tournament, so I am a happy man that my dream of propagating the game of golf has manifested.”
