Top golfers across Nigeria are ready to battle for honours at the 3rd BOVAS Golf Open which tees off this weekend at Tiger Golf Club (TGC), Odogbo, Cantonment, Ibadan.
No fewer than 120 golfers are expected to converge on TGC for the two-day tournament which is sponsored by BOVAS and Company Limited.
Speaking with Corporatesport, Competition Secretary of TGC, Barrister Tunde Akande, said no fewer than 120 golfers including about 10 professionals, would participate in the tournament scheduled to take place from August 24 to 25.
Akande stated that professional golfers are expected to play on Friday while the cocktail party will hold the same day at 7:00pm.
The ceremonial tee off for the main tournament is scheduled for 6:30am on Saturday, while the amateur golfers would file out to begin battle for laurels immediately.

According to Akande, the closing ceremony and presentation of prizes would start at 5:00pm the same day.
Akande revealed that Ibadan Golf Club, Ikeja Golf Club, Ekiti Golf Club, IITA Golf Club, Mic Com and Country Golf Club, Ikoyo Golf Club, Ewekoro Golf Club, Abeokuta Golf Club, Ogbomoso Golf Club, have shown interest in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Captain of TGC, Mr Muyiwa Laniyan has lauded BOVAS for its commitment to the promotion of sports, especially golf in the country.
Laniyan stated that logistics have been put in place towards ensuring a hitch-free tournament.
