How Juventus captured Ronaldo ―Nedved

After Juventus pulled off the incredible coup of signing Cristiano Ronaldo during the summer, vice-president Pavel Nedved has revealed how the initial idea came from sporting director Fabio Paratici.

Nedved also believes that the signing of the Portugal international was a necessity in order to get the Italian champions over the line in Europe.

“Everything started in the head of our sporting director [Paratici],” he admitted.

“We were at home when he proposed the idea to myself and president [Andrea] Agnelli.

“We really liked the idea, we were excited and knew we were doing the right thing.

“When we heard about the release clause, we knew that we had to try to sign him.

“This was a necessary signing to go one step further after winning seven successive Scudetti.

“We will try to win the Champions League, that’s our goal.”
