I am protected by world’s best defenders ―Navas

Liverpool have one of the most potent attacking lines in European football but Real Madrid goalkeeper, Keylor Navas isn’t fazed by what he may face in the Champions League final as he believes he has the best defence in the world in front of him.

Zinedine Zidane has already decided on the bulk of his starting line-up for the final, and in defence the usual suspects of Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Marcelo are all set to be selected.

“I have the best defence in the world, I trust my teammates fully,” he explained.

“It’s very nice to play a third successive final, we’ll approach it with humility because we always respect our opponents, even when we’re considered the favourites.

“We have a team with players that have lots of experience, but this doesn’t mean we’ll relax.”

Jurgen Klopp’s charges have surprised the entire continent by reaching the final in Ukraine, however his attacking line-up has simply struck gold at the right time of the season making light of the January departure of Philippe Coutinho.

With that being said, the Costa Rican stopper is aware of just how dangerous the trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino can be.

“The challenge in the final is significant,” he admitted.

“We know exactly the type of team they are.

“They have players who can make a difference.”

Navas’ own form has been largely positive of late, despite a couple of high profile errors against both Juventus and Bayern Munich, and the former Levante star has made clear how comfortable he is ahead of the trip to Kiev.

“After Bayern Munich, I came away very happy on a personal level, it was a great result for the team,” he confirmed.

“We hope to give joy to our fans in all of the big matches.

“When you get to the stadium for a final and see all the supporters, it’s like injecting something into a vein, you feel incredibly motivated.”
