Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says he’s desperate to avoid old club Juventus in the Champions League this season.
Buffon left Juve in the summer to join the French champions after 17 trophy-laden years with the Old Lady and admits facing them in Europe would be a difficult prospect.
The two clubs will have designs on getting to the latter stages in the Champions League this season but Buffon hopes they do not come up against each other – especially in the final.
“No [I don’t want to face Juve in the final],” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I do not want my joy to be a consequence of the sadness of my former team-mates and fans.
“We have already cried too many times together. I deserve full joy. If I have to face Juventus, it is better before the final.”
Buffon has not always been first-choice at the Parc des Princes since his move, with boss Thomas Tuchel rotating between the 40-year-old and Alphonse Areola so far this season, while Buffon has yet to play in the Champions League for PSG due to a suspension carried over from last term.
