‘I feel refreshed’, Zidane eyes coaching return after two-year break

Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has been on a break from coaching since his departure from the club in 2021.

However, there have been consistent rumors linking him to various top managerial positions during this period, including Juventus, Manchester United, France, and even a return to Real Madrid.

After spending two years away from the touchline, Zidane has now expressed his openness to a potential comeback in coaching.

In an interview with ‘GQ,’ the footballing legend mentioned feeling “refreshed” after his two-year hiatus, during which he disconnected from the game.

Addressing questions on taking the French national team job, Zidane acknowledged that though it is natural for someone who has played for France and then become a coach to consider such opportunities, he stated that now is not the right time for him to pursue the national team job.

However, after taking a significant break and focusing on resting and resetting, it could be the right time for him to re-enter the world of coaching.

“When I went home, my head was always back at work. In this job, everything comes at you from everywhere,” said Zidane.

“All the information gets on top of you and you have the responsibility of making all the decisions. It really absorbs your energy.

“Sometimes, and I’ve done it twice now, I need to take a break. A coach is in charge of 23 players and never stops.

“Now, I’m simply enjoying life. Everything is possible if you take a step back. My life always goes at great speed, but now I feel refreshed.
