Igbinoba blames hard luck for Federation Cup defeat

The Lafia side midfield talisman has expressed that they deserved to win the last Sunday’s Federation Cup final

Nasarawa United’s Esosa Igbinoba has stated that he was disappointed to have lost the 2016 Federation Cup final to FC IfeanyiUbah despite dominating the Anambra Warriors before losing on penalties.

The Solid Miners’ teammates played in this year’s Caf Confederation Cup competition before crashing to Algerian side, CS Constantine in the first round of the competition and were looking for an instant return to Africa’s Inter Club competition through the Federation Cup before their dreams got shattered by ambitious Nnewi side.

Igbinoba disclosed to Goal: “It was a sad end to a very promising campaign. We did everything possible to win but hard luck played its part and we can only go and start from the beginning again.

“We will first go back to Lafia and then proceed on a break before we will know what happens next. We had planned to qualify for the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup through this medium but this dream has evaporated now.”

The Lafia side lost the final tie after their regular penalty kick taker, Seun Sogbeso fluffed from 12 yards.
