Ighalo scores four as Al Hilal thrash Al-Duhail 7-0 to reach Asian Champions League final

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo scored four goals to help his team, Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia, advance to the final of the Asian Champions League with a 7-0 win against Al-Duhail of Qatar on Sunday.

The four-time continental champion will face Urawa Reds of Japan in a two-legged final in April and May.

Despite playing at Qatar’s Al Thumama Stadium, Al-Duhail was no match for Al-Hilal, who scored five times in the first half of the semifinal game.

Ighalo quickly took control, finding the target twice in the opening 10 minutes. His first goal came just 90 seconds into the game, while the second was a well-taken shot after a smart pass from Michael Delgado. Moussa Marega scored the third and fourth goals, with Salem Al-Dawsari adding a fifth before halftime.

The second half saw Al-Hilal continue their dominance, with Ighalo scoring two more goals to complete his hat-trick and then add a fourth. Al-Hilal is now seeking to win a fifth Asian title and extend its own record.

The final between Al-Hilal and Urawa will be their third meeting at that stage in six years. Urawa won its second title in 2017, while the Saudi Arabians lifted the trophy two years later.
