Iheanacho ’ll stay at Manchester City — Dad

Kelechi Iheanacho is staying at Manchester City in the near future, according to his dad.

The striker started the season in strong form with three goals in the first eight games, and looked comfortable alongside Sergio Aguero or without the Argentine.

But the 20-year-old has seen his form tail off with his game time as the campaign has progressed and did not even make the bench for City’s crunch game with Tottenham.

In his place was new £27m signing Gabriel Jesus, who has arrived from Brazil with a lot of expectations and showed a glimpse of his potential in a ten-minute cameo off the bench, seeing a goal narrowly chalked off for offside against Spurs.

With Jesus ready to play his part in the season and Pep Guardiola making clear that Sergio Aguero is still one of the star names at the Etihad, Iheanacho has even more of a fight on his hands to make it onto the pitch.

But his father, James Iheanacho, does not see Kelechi seeking a temporary move in the January window to get more first team games, suggesting he is currently happy with his situation at the club.

“Automatically Kelechi is not going on loan because his name is not among the players leaving,” he told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“It is only [on Saturday] he did not play (or make the bench).”
