Alex Iwobi with Mesut Ozil
Alex Iwobi has admitted that he is not yet a finished product and still learning from the likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Arsenal signed offensive pair Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan in the January transfer window, but manager Arsene Wenger has kept faith with Iwobi, starting the winger in three of the last four matches in all competitions while he came off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
”I’m still learning, I’m still young. I’m still learning from the lads like Mesut Ozil and Mkhitaryan. Every time I play, I am grateful,” said Iwobi to The Mirror UK.
In the race for the Champions League spots, the Gunners are eight points behind Chelsea, who are fourth, but the Nigerian has insisted that they can still secure a Champions League spot by finishing in the top four, rather than concentrate on winning the Europa League.
”No, we have to do our best in both competitions. That’s what we are trying to do: get top four and also win this competition. That’s the aim,” added the Arsenal number seventeen.
The Super Eagles star was in action for the entirety of Arsenal’s 3-0 win at Ostersunds FK on Thursday evening.
He was the London team’s most creative player against the Swedish opponents, with a game-high three key passes along with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut özil and Danny Welbeck.
