The invaluable goalscoring advice Maradona gave to Kane

Before the clash at Wembley, Maradona met with Kane and Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the dressing room and gave him some invaluable advice about scoring goals.

The Argentina legend was full of praise for the Spurs duo, but he told Kane to shoot across goal rather than always aiming for the near post.

“Wow what a goalscorer. Mauricio [Pochettino] has a real backbone in the team.

“Hugo stops everything at one end and Harry puts everything in at the other. Go on, get your heads in the game. Good luck, good luck.” said Maradona.

He then added: “Don’t always go near post with your shots. Go across goal sometimes. You know why? Goalkeepers watch you on TV all the time. So next time… across!”

It appears that Kane heeded the advice of Maradona, as his second goal against Liverpool was a shot towards the back post rather than the near, although goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was already beaten.

The 24-year-old is scoring goals for fun at the moment and not many people are qualified to give a striker in such red-hot form any advice, but when Maradona talks, you tend to listen.
