Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany and Spain, to name but a few, vie for gold ahead of a month dominated by football.
Not to mention minnows Iran who set off to Russia in absolute style.
A picture surfaced of Iran’s World Cup squad, with all the footballers donning exquisite blue suits.
Their squad is made up of players from Iran’s domestic league, as well as the Russian top flight and the English Championship with Nottingham Forest’s Ashkan Dejagah making Carlos Queiroz’s 23-man party.
Among the players snapped in the picture above includes ‘The Iranian Messi; Sardar Azmoun, Morteza Pouraliganji, Alireza Jahanbahksh, Saeed Ezatollahi, Ramin Rezaian, Karim Ansarifard, and Mehdi Taremi.
And a quick glance on Twitter suggests people will be rooting for Iran at the World Cup.
The Persians open their World Cup campaign on Friday against Morocco, before facing Spain then Portugal.
Lets hope they play as good as they look.
