Iwobi wants more goals

Alex Iwobi admits he needs to score more goals for Arsenal and hopes working with an analyst will help improve that aspect.

The 22-year-old has made 22 Premier League appearances for the Gunners this season, starting 14, but has bagged only two goals, adding another in the FA Cup.

The Nigeria international has performed well for Unai Emery but did make the mistake that led to Sergio Aguero’s first-minute goal for Manchester City last weekend.

He has generally been one of the north London side’s better players but knows there are always areas in which he can do more.

“I would say each day I’m still growing and still learning, but negatives, obviously they’re always going to criticise me for my goals and assists, which I need to add to my game if I want to be compared with the people I’m playing with,” he told the official website.

“This season I feel much better and I feel like I’m in control, especially going forward in an attacking sense.

“Analysing every aspect of a performance by video and statistics is one way in which the game has developed over the past decade, and Iwobi believes he has improved as result.

“I have an analyst now who is always trying to help me, which I didn’t have in seasons before, so he’s sending me clips and saying what I can do better,’ he added.

“That’s helped me and I’d like to say I’ve been involved in a few goals this season, even it’s not the assist or the goal.”
