The 13th edition of the Jabi All Stars In-House Charity Football Tournament concluded on Saturday, reaffirming the club’s dedication to harnessing the power of football for social impact.
The event, a much-anticipated annual tradition, has become a cornerstone of the Jabi All Stars community, drawing widespread participation and support.
The tournament featured four teams—DSK FC, Chijen International Coy FC, Oxford Abode FC, and Triple C&K FC—all from within the Jabi All Stars community, competing not just for glory but also for a greater purpose: raising funds for charitable causes.
This year, the proceeds were directed toward supporting widows, orphans, and other vulnerable individuals within the community. The initiative exemplifies how football can transcend the pitch to foster positive change, uniting players, fans, and community members in a spirit of sportsmanship and generosity.
Chairman of the Tournament Organizing Committee, Derek Oguine highlighted the tournament’s vision: “Football has the power to unite and uplift. Through this tournament, we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.” He further emphasized that the event extends beyond competition, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and community purpose. “Our goal is to use football as a tool for social impact, bringing people together to support noble causes,” he added.
The tournament has seen remarkable growth over the years, solidifying its reputation as a platform where sports and charity intersect. Beyond the competitive matches, it underscores the transformative role of football in addressing social challenges and promoting compassion and solidarity within communities.
Chairman of Jabi All Stars, Solomon Okezie echoed these sentiments: “As a club, we believe that our role extends beyond the football pitch. We are committed to using our platform to drive positive change and support those in need.”
This year’s tournament was keenly contested, with Oxford Above FC emerging as champions of the 13th edition. However, the true victory lay in the charitable causes that benefitted from the event, reinforcing the tournament’s ethos of giving back to the community.
As the curtains close on this year’s tournament, Jabi All Stars remains steadfast in its commitment to leveraging football as a force for good. The club looks forward to building on this tradition and expanding its impact in future editions, ensuring that the beautiful game continues to touch lives beyond the field.
