Unlike former managers, Mourinho has ensured players get one day off per week even if they suffer defeat in previous game.

JOSE MOURINHO has won over his Manchester United stars by giving them a day off every week, according to reports.

Former United bosses Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes and Louis van Gaal made sure that first-team players were available to come in for training at short notice.

But Mourinho has done away with that.

According to the Manchester Evening News, unlike those three, who would call in players for extra training if the squad played poorly, Mourinho has ensured that the squad have one guaranteed day off.

The move is said to have especially pleased senior players who are able to plan trips with their families without fear of being called into Carrington at the drop of a hat.

The paper claims that Mourinho has made the move so as not to exacerbate bad feeling.

Players are likely to be unhappy following a poor loss and domestic unhappiness will only heighten that ill feeling.

Morale is believed to be sky high in the dressing room with players delighted at Mourinho and his staff’s methods so far.

The Portuguese and his squad are described as ‘jokers’ who are not as serious as they make out.

After the poor defeat in the Manchester derby last weekend, United face Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday night before travelling to Watford on Sunday.
