The move, described as “Here we go!”, places Cucurella firmly as the preferred option for the left-back position under José Mourinho, who has identified him as a key target. Final details of the agreement are expected to be completed in the coming days.
Sources indicate that Real Madrid, Chelsea and the player have all agreed in principle to the transfer structure.
Cucurella is understood to have accepted the project, paving the way for a return to Spanish football after his spell in the Premier League.
The deal is now in its final stages, with only formal steps remaining before completion.
Mourinho has pushed for the signing as part of his plan to strengthen the left side of Madrid’s defence, with Cucurella viewed as a key tactical fit.
