Kelechi Nwakali makes first start in MVV Maastricht defeat

The 2015 U17 Golden Ball winner made a losing start for Ron Elsen’s men on Friday evening.

Kelechi Nwakali made his full debut in MVV Maastricht 2-1 loss to Volendam at the De Geusselt in their Eerste Divisie encounter.

Nwakali, who was loaned from Arsenal, has made four substitute appearances for the Dutch side this season before getting the green light to start for the De Geusselt Stadion outfit.

The 18-year old’s presence in the game couldn’t prevent Daniel van Son and  Bert Steltenpool from putting the visitors ahead before Alessandro Ciranni got the consolation goal from Ron Elsen’s men.

However, he was replaced by Dyon Gijzen in the 77th minute.

MVV Maastricht are placed third in Eerste Divisie league with 23 points and will welcome Telstar on Thursday in another league fixture.
