The Kwara Sports Commission has warned football lovers and sports enthusiasts across the state to strictly stay away from any form of violence during match days.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Coach Bolakale Mogaji, on Monday in Ilorin.
Coach Mogagi said that violence in sports is not only against the spirit of fair play and humanity but also constitutes a serious violation of established sports regulations and international football rules.
He said that football remains a unifying sport that brings joy, passion, and pride to communities.

”While the commission appreciates the enthusiasm and unwavering support of fans for their teams, supporters are strongly advised to conduct themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner at all times.
”We should not allow emotions and rivalry to override the values of discipline, respect, and sportsmanship that define the beautiful game.
”The commission, therefore, cautions that any individual found engaging in violent acts before, during, or after matches at the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin, or any other sporting venue in the state will face strict consequences.
”The consequences will be in line with sports regulations and applicable laws as such persons would be held fully responsible for their actions,” Mogaji said.
He reaffirmed the determination of the commission towards promoting a safe, friendly, and enjoyable sporting environment for players, officials, and supporters alike.
He encouraged fans to continue to support football and other sporting activities in the state peacefully and responsibly.
