LALIGA: Vinicius Junior responds to death threats from Osasuna fans, see his reaction

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior faced death threats from Osasuna fans during their La Liga win in Pamplona on Saturday.

The Brazilian winger was also subjected to heckling during the supposed minute’s silence, to pay respects to the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, before the match began.

Vinicius has been a target of rough treatment by opposing players throughout the season. The Brazilian has also faced unacceptable abuse from the stands, some of which has even spilt over into racism. This has led to growing concerns from both the player and the club about his treatment this season. Real Madrid also expressed similar concerns about Vinicius’ lack of protection last season.

Thibaut Courtois spoke to DAZN about the incidents that took place during the Osasuna game, stating that “There is a minute of silence and there is someone who says ‘son of…’ and it is unfortunate. They sang ‘Vinicius die’, it is unfortunate.

“There are beautiful and encouraging fans who don’t say that nonsense…Vini played a good game, it’s a pity he didn’t score the goal. You have to look at the people, not Vinicius.

“You see children with their parents doing the shouting and that’s unfortunate. You have to look at the others. Of course, Vini can get hot, but it’s more outside.”

Vinicius appeared to verbally berate and insult referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero at one stage during the match without punishment.

The incident was quickly picked up by the Barcelona press, who highlighted the three-game ban that Robert Lewandowski received for simply touching his nose.

Despite the abuse, Vinicius played a key role in Real’s 2-0 victory by assisting the opening goal 12 minutes from time. He also took to social media to post a message after the game, saying “The insults continue…but the dance too…see you in Liverpool,” referring to the upcoming Champions League tie against Liverpool in England.
