Leave Man City, Okocha advises Iheanacho

Former Premier League star and Nigeria captain, Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, has reckoned it’s a “great decision” for countryman Kelechi Iheanacho to leave Manchester City this summer, AOIFootball.com can report.

Now aged 20, Iheanacho is at a point in his career where he needs regular football, says Okocha, something he is more likely to get at the King Power Stadium than at the Etihad.

“He has come of that age when he needs regular first-team games,” Okocha told ESPN.

“It will be a better decision for him to go somewhere where he can play week in, week out.

“I think it’s a great decision for him to move out of Manchester City this season.

“You never know (if he can be a 20-goal-a-season striker) until he starts playing regularly.

“That’s every player’s dream, to be a starter. Hopefully, he will be able to show he has what it takes to be a starter in any team.”
