Leicester City set to lose Wilfred Ndidi, Maddison, 7 others following relegation heartbreak

Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, is reportedly considering a summer departure from the club following their relegation to the English Championship.

Leicester City’s relegation marks the end of a nine-year in the Premier League, which created arguably the biggest moment in Premier League history when the Foxes shocked the football world to be crowned English champions in 2016.

Coming a long way from celebratory days, the Foxes are faced with the need to offload some of their key players following their relegation heartbreak.

Another player who could join Ndidi is 26-year-old English attacking midfielder James Maddison, who Newcastle have shown a long-standing interest in acquiring his services.  Newcastle United are looking to bolster their side following their remarkable qualification for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League and Leicester is likely to set a valuation of over £50m for Maddison, hoping for a bidding war to drive up his transfer value.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the Maddison situation. However the latter’s primary target is West Ham captain Declan Rice, and they may not pursue Maddison unless they can offload players first and strengthen their squad accordingly.

Leicester City faces financial difficulties due to their relegation from the Premier League, necessitating a careful balancing of their books. In light of this development, The Foxes could be forced to cash out on Harvey Barnes and Wilfred Ndidi in a “fire sale” approach.

Additionally, further departures are expected as seven players will depart the King Power stadium following the expiration of their contracts.

Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Daniel Amartey, Ryan Bertrand, Papy Mendy, Ayoze Perez, and Youri Tielemans are among the players who will become free agents.
