Liberty United wins IFC/Karim Adeyemi U15 football championship

Liberty United has emerged the winner of this year’s IFC/Karim Adeyemi U15 football championship.

The final which was played at the Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku, Ibadan saw Borussia Dortmund star, Karim Adeyemi alongside with his parents, German friends watched the encounter where Liberty United outshined FC Challenge 3-0 to claimed the overall winner.

The winner of the championship went home with N1million while the second got N750,000.

Karim Adeyemi FC who beat Abiola Babes 4-1 in the third place match forfeited their prize, N500,000 to the fourth place team as directed by the President of the foundation, Mr. Abiodun Adeyemi.

Liberty FC’s Ibrahim Abolade emerged as both the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the tournament’s highest goal scorer.

Adeyemi FC received the Fair Play Award for their display of sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Adeyemi, whose foundation organized the championship, expressed his joy at being in Nigeria and supporting young talents. “I promised myself that when I make it in football, I will come back home to help children. I’m happy to see the amazing talent here in Nigeria. I came happy, and I’m leaving even happier. Thanks for all the support,” Adeyemi said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ibadan Football Association, Barrister Rotimi Ali expressed his admiration for Adeyemi’s exceptional efforts in hosting the U15 Football Championship.

He praised Adeyemi for his dedication and organisational skills, which contributed to the success of the event.

The chairman highlighted the importance of such tournaments in nurturing young talent and fostering a love for the game among youth.

Ali also emphasised that Adeyemi’s leadership not only provided a platform for young players to showcase their skills but also helped in promoting sportsmanship and teamwork saying “the association looks forward to more successful events under Adeyemi’s guidance in the future.”
