Lionel Messi says Argentina are “in the s***” after losing 3-0 to Brazil in World Cup qualifier

In the below video the Barcelona star reacts to his nation’s 3-0 defeat to Brazil, which leaves them in danger of qualifying for the World Cup

An understandably frustrated Lionel Messi admitted Argentina are “in the s***” after Brazil beat them 3-0 in their World Cup qualifying group game.

Argentina are now in real danger of making it to Russia and are currently sixth in the 10-team South American table.

The top four from the group get automatic qualification, while the fifth-placed country goes into a play-off with the Oceania group winners.

Speaking after the fixture, which you can see in the above video, Messi says: “It’s difficult when you get into these dynamics.

“In this situation, the minimum is you get down and everything turns out to be more difficult.

“Within all the bad things and the sh*t we are in, we still depend on ourselves.”

The Barcelona forward concludes by saying Argentina have to “change a lot” if they want to beat Colombia in their next group game.

Messi returned for his nation after missing the last three games through injury.

His countrymen had hoped that he could be the difference and help turn Argentina’s poor qualifying run around against Brazil.

But Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho insured it would not be a happy return for the four-time ballon d’or winner.
