Liverpool smash 121-year-old record under Jurgen Klopp with 5-1 win over Hull City

Liverpool are running riot every week under Jurgen Klopp and they’ve now posted their highest goal tally in over 120 years.

Two penalties from James Milner, plus goals from Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho sealed a 5-1 victory over Hull City at Anfield on Saturday.

Klopp’s men have now scored 24 goals in their opening eight fixtures in all competitions – their highest tally since 1895.

After eight games in the 1895-96 campaign, Liverpool, who were managed by William Edward Barclay and John McKenna, scored 34 goals.

And what an omen this could be for Klopp as in that season 121 years ago, Liverpool went on to win the second division.
