LMC rakes in over N11m as fines

Over N11 million has so far been raked in as fines after the sanction of four Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs, – IfeanyiUbah, Enugu Rangers, Lobi Stars and Niger Tornadoes – by the League Management Company (LMC) for several breaches in their opening games in the 2017 NPFL season.

LMC fined FC IfeanyiUbah N9.15million for walking out of their league game against Kano Pillars in Kano after they abandoned the match in the second half over their goal which was ruled out by the referee.

The statement reads: “For refusing to continue the NPFL game vs Kano Pillars on Saturday, FC Ifeanyiubah will pay a fine of N3m,” the LMC announced.

“FC Ifeanyiubah will pay a fine of N5m for hindering and infringing the live TV broadcast of the NPFL game vs Kano Pillars.

“For conduct capable of bringing the NPFL to disrepute, FC Ifeanyiubah shall pay a fine of N1m.

“FC Ifeanyiubah shall also pay a fine of N150,000 for causing a delay to the restart of the NPFL game vs Kano Pillars after half time without good reason.”

IfeanyiUbah’s Team Manager, Jonathan Igwe was also fined N500,000 and suspended indefinitely from all league matches.

Meanwhile, the reigning NPFL champions, Enugu Rangers, were fined N2.750million for breaching the rules by the LMC.

The Flying Antelopes were slammed for not restricting access to unauthorised persons to all restricted areas at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in the course of their 1-2 loss to Abia Warriors in a match day one fixture.

Also fined was Lobi Stars fined N100, 000 for failing to have the surname of their players written at the back of their jerseys during their match against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan, while Niger Tornadoes are to pay N100,000 as fine for having inferior lettering of shirt names and numbers of their players on their jerseys.
