LMC sanctions Ajiboye, fines Boboye, Balogun

Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye and his coach, Kennedy Boboye were on Thursday given suspensions from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The duo were sanctioned by the League Management Company (LMC) following their roles in an altercation that occurred during a league game in Ibadan against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on March 5.

The 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner Ajiboye was hit with a one-match suspension “for displaying behaviour capable of inciting others through his verbal altercation with 3SC supporters during the #NPFL Matchday 12 game.”

Ajiboye, a former 3SC keeper, will now miss the top-of-the-table clash with MFM FC at the Agege Stadium in Lagos tomorrow according to the twitter handle of the Nigerian top-flight league organisers — League Management NG (@LMCNPFL).

Also, Boboye was handed a three-match touchline ban with two of them suspended subject to good conduct for the rest of the NPFL season.

He will start his touchline ban tomorrow when his team faces MFM FC in Lagos.

Boboye was also fined N100,000 for breaching the code of conduct for managers and coaches in the NPFL framework and rules.

Meanwhile, General Manager of 3SC, Rasheed Balogun, was also sanctioned for his role in the match under review.

According to the LMC, Balogun breached the code of conduct for club officials of the NPFL framework and Rules.

Balogun, charged for encroaching the technical area, was fined N200,000.

Also, Kano Pillars head coach, Kadiri Ikhana was sanctioned after the LMC stated that he “failed to conduct himself in a professional manner during the Plateau United versus Kano Pillars NPFL Match day 13 game by publicly criticising the match officials.”

Ikhana was also fined N200 000 for breaching the league rules.

Ajiboye, Boboye, Balogun and Ikhana have till Friday {yesterday} to appeal the sanctions imposed on them.
