AC Milan legend, Paolo Maldini admits Gennaro Gattuso could face the sack if his side fails to improve.
Last Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina defeat to Inter piled further pressure on ‘Ringhio’ and his cause was not helped by Thursday’s Europa League loss to Real Betis.
Gattuso took charge of the Rossoneri last November and eventually guided them to a sixth-place finish.
A top-four finish was seen as a realistic goal for the current campaign but they sit 12th ahead of Sunday’s visit of Sampdoria.
Milan then host Genoa on Wednesday and reports suggest Gattuso needs two wins to keep his job.

Maldini and Gattuso won the Champions League together twice during their playing days but ‘Il Capitano’, who currently sits on the board, has hinted that there will be no room for sentiment if things do not look set to improve.
He said: “We played badly in the derby, it’s true, and I understand perfectly the great disappointment for the cup match.
“Bearing in mind that coming from a sixth place, the goal we have set ourselves is fourth, and that is another significant improvement.”
