Juan Mata believes Manchester United are still Premier League title contenders despite their start to 2016-17.
The Red Devils claimed a much needed 3-1 win over Swansea last weekend, but still sit six points outside of the top four.
However, the Spaniard knows there is still a long way to go before any silverware is decided this campaign.
“It’s true that our start to the season didn’t go as we had hoped for, but we are there,” said Mata to the media on Thursday.
“The Premier League is a competition in which all the big clubs drop points and we remain hopeful that we can get closer to the top positions.”
Mata has started in seven of United’s Premier League games so far this season and after recording two goals is confident any whispers regarding his future at Old Trafford have been put to rest.
“I want to continue to do the talking on the pitch after a strange summer, with so many things that came out that were false,” Mata added
“I’m enjoying myself on the pitch and things are going well for me.
“I’ve had a good month and I want to continue to showcase my talent on the pitch.”
