Manchester United have revealed what it cost to sack Louis van Gaal and his coaches in their latest financial statement.
The Red Devils announced revenues of £515.3 million to become the first British club to make over £500 million in a year. However, they did have to part with £8.4 million of that to remove former manager Van Gaal and his backroom team from their posts.
The club sacked the Dutchman despite him winning the FA Cup, with the team unable to qualify for the Champions League.
The 65-year-old oversaw the introduction of several youngsters, including Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, but was often criticised for a boring style of play and resulting lack of goals.
The club have since appointed Jose Mourinho as boss, with the Portuguese proving a popular choice with fans since his arrival.
However, a defeat to local rivals Manchester City has put a dent in their revival after three successive victories at the start of the season had some naming them their Premier League title favourites.
