Manchester United star Paul Pogba a major fitness doubt for Swansea clash

Manchester United have concerns over the fitness of Paul Pogba ahead of the side’s clash with Swansea on Sunday afternoon.

Pogba limped off after only 30 minutes during the Red Devils’ 2-1 defeat to Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday evening and could miss the upcoming match at the Liberty Stadium.

Manchester Evening News suggest United hold major fears over the midfielder’s fitness as well as that of Chris Smalling who has not featured for Mourinho’s side since mid-October.

With Ander Herrera also ruled out of the Swansea match through suspension, Mourinho has some decisions to make in midfield.

United legend Paul Scholes believes Michael Carrick is the answer to Mourinho’s problems in the middle of the park this weekend.

He said: ‘Carrick’s a prime example, is he injured, is he [Mourinho] saving him for Sunday?’

‘He’s played in the cup games, and whenever he’s played they’ve looked a different team, I think they’ve won most of their games with him in the team.

‘It’s helped Pogba, a bit of experience next to him.’
