In a crucial match at the top of the Premier League, Arsenal managed to secure a 1-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday.
The result moved the Gunners five points clear at the top of the table, with champions Manchester City having the opportunity to cut the lead back to just two points later in the day.
The match got off to an eventful start, with Arsenal having a goal disallowed shortly before the half-hour mark. Leandro Trossard appeared to have given the visitors the lead with a stunning strike from 18 yards, but the goal was ruled out following a pitch-side review by referee Craig Pawson.

The review showed that Ben White had fouled Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward in the build-up to the goal.
Leicester thought they had taken the lead themselves soon after when Kelechi Iheanacho finished off a sweeping move, but the goal was also disallowed for offside. Both sides had chances to score in the first half, with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Leicester’s James Maddison both going close.
The second half started in dramatic fashion, with Arsenal taking the lead less than a minute after the restart. Trossard played a through-ball to Gabriel Martinelli, who finished past Ward despite being caught on the knee by Super Eagles defender Wilfred Ndidi in the process. Martinelli was fortunate to avoid serious injury, and Arsenal were ahead.
Leicester responded by bringing on Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans, but Arsenal were able to hold on for the win. The visitors defended well in the closing stages, with Rob Holding making several crucial interceptions, and Leicester were unable to find an equalizer.
The result was a vital one for Arsenal, who had been struggling in the league in recent weeks. Mikel Arteta’s side had failed to win any of their previous three matches, including a 0-0 draw with Burnley and a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. The win over Leicester will give the Gunners a much-needed boost heading into the busy festive period.
Leicester, on the other hand, will be disappointed with the result. The Foxes had been in good form coming into the match, having won their previous two matches against Watford and Southampton. The defeat leaves them in fifth place in the table, four points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Overall, it was a hard-fought and entertaining match between two of the Premier League’s top teams.
Arsenal’s victory puts them in a strong position at the top of the table, but there is still a long way to go in what promises to be a fiercely competitive title race.
