Lionel Messi opened the scoring for Barcelona against Manchester City on Tuesday, and extended his amazing record against English clubs in the process.

The Argentina international started a swift counter-attack against Pep Guardiola’s men, and raced forward to finish off the lightning move, steering home a superb Neymar pass.

Messi’s strike was his 16th in 14 games against English clubs, as he again came back to haunt his former club manager.

The 29-year-old scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture on October 19, as Barca ran out 4-0 winners at Camp Nou.
