Messi is special, I’m not ― Dybala

PAULO Dybala has played down comparisons with Lionel Messi, claiming the Barcelona star is a one-off like their Argentine compatriot Diego Maradona.

He told TyC Sports: ‘But, like [Diego] Maradona, there was only one. I think there is also a great distance between him and me.

‘I want to do a lot of things with him and win. We are both Argentines and we have to enjoy playing together.’

Despite the best efforts of the pair, Argentina are struggling in their qualification campaign for next year’s World Cup in Russia.

They are currently in fifth position, on course for the play-off spot, and nothing is guaranteed.

Dybala said: ‘I cannot imagine a World Cup without Argentina. I also want to win it, like all Argentines.’
