Monaco admit star could join Man United

IN an interview for L’Equipe, the president of Ligue 1 champions Monaco, Dmitry Rybolovlev discussed the possibility of one of his stars making a move.

After an impressive season for Ligue 1 champions Monaco, Kylian Mbappe has been subject of much speculation regarding his future, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United all reported to be interested in the youngster.

With a crop of stars set to depart in the summer, the French club slapped a £100 million price tag on the 18-year-old, but that has not deterred Europe’s finest from plotting moves for the future star.

With Manchester United as strong favourites to snatch the teenage striker, Monaco president Dmitry Rybolovnev spoke to ‘L’Equipe’, and cast doubt on Mbappe’s continuity at the club.

He said that the player’s desire would ultimately decide his future, despite Monaco being in no need to sell: ‘We have no budget problem and we are not forced to sell, but the day when a player or coach wants to leave, it’s just unimaginable to keep him against his wish. We are not Real Madrid or Barcelona or Manchester’.

He drew a reference to the recent exit of Anthony Martial, who joined the Red Devils last summer: ‘You know, Martial, it was he who wanted to leave and we can understand’.

One thing is certain. Whoever wants to sign the youngster will have to meet Monaco’s asking price. ‘I don’t know [if Mabppe is worth 100 million euros], it is the market that decides, and it depends on who is willing to invest in him’, Rybolovlev concluded.
