Mourinho is embarrassing Man U ―Paul Scholes

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes accused manager Jose Mourinho of “embarrassing the club” and claimed he’s lucky to still be in a job.

The former England international laid into Mourinho ahead of United’s Champions League clash with Valencia on Tuesday, a night when the Red Devils again failed to impress as they limped to a goalless draw at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is under intense pressure after a string of woeful performances, which have left United tenth in the Premier League table and nine points off league leaders Manchester City.

The manager’s relationship with certain players, particularly star man Paul Pogba, appears to be strained and Scholes believes his behaviour is beginning to tarnish the club’s image.

The former midfielder – an 11-time title winner with United – even suggested Mourinho should have been sacked after last weekend’s defeat at West Ham.

The pundit said: “I’m actually slightly surprised he survived after Saturday, the performance [against West Ham] was that bad.

“We’ll go on to show clips of attitude and performance, it was just nowhere near [acceptable].

“He’s coming out in press conferences and constantly having a go at players, he’s having a go at people above him because he’s not getting what he wants.

“I think his mouth is out of control and he’s embarrassing the club.”

After the disappointing draw with Valencia, Mourinho responded by declaring he had no interest in what Scholes had to say.

The United boss said: “I don’t need to know what he said.

“He said what he wants to say, I’m not interested, honestly, I’m not interested.

“Freedom of speech, free country, you can say what you want.”

United have now gone four games without a victory and another club legend – Brian McClair – also turned fire on Mourinho.

He tweeted during the Valencia clash: “Coach, players, system, shape, tactics, b***ocks!!!
