Mourinho not elated about Man Utd win

Jose Mourinho has played down his side’s win over Real Madrid in their latest pre-season game – and said that the side put out by the winners of the Champions League should not be one that people judge too much.

He noted that his Man United side is very similar, and they’re playing without the majority of their stars, given the World Cup has of course taken a huge part of the summer up, and some players are still on their holidays, and the results have certainly reflected that.

He also took the chance to take a dig at the Premier League and the early start, noting La Liga offers the protection players need.

The Express report Mourinho said: “I think this isn’t Real Madrid, in the same way this isn’t Manchester United.

“Real Madrid is the same as us – its players from different groups. Some from the first team, some were on loan, some are from the Castilla, some from Real Madrid C so it’s a group of players.

“Of course all of them are good players, this is not Real Madrid, this result means nothing to them, and they have more time than us to prepare the season because La Liga they understand better than the Premier League the needs of the football players and La Liga will start a little bit later.

“It will let the coaches, the clubs and the players prepare better than us.”
