My passion is to see youth excel, succeed – Volleyball Federation boss

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has said he will not relent in seeing that Nigerian youth continue to excel and achieve their goals and desires in life as far as sports is concerned.

Nimrod, who is also the Secretary General of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3, made the statement in Abuja on Tuesday after bagging an award.

He said helping has always been his passion because he knows that by providing them with the ladder to succeed will not only guarantee them a better life but a brighter future.

“I never knew people were monitoring me but it is God and I want to appreciate the sports family as a whole. My desire is to continue to help the Nigerian youth. I don’t want to know which part of the country you come from and that is why I don’t get involved in selecting players. I have been a sports philanthropist to help and project the Nigerian youth and that is what I want to continue doing. I believe whatever you do today will come back to you because it is these boys and girls today that will also help me when I have become old,” he said.

Speaking on the African Volleyball Championship going on in Tunisia where the Nigeria U21 team is participating, Nimrod said he would be the happiest if the team can pick the world championship ticket. The Nigerian team has put up decent performances defeating Morocco and The Gambia in their first two games.

“All I want from the players is a world championship ticket but if we win, I will be the happiest person. I want to thank the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, for his support and to all members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) all over Nigeria for their support at all times.”

Nimrod got the award based on his exceptional contribution to the development of sports especially his footprints in volleyball in Nigeria.
