Nagelsmann pulls out of consideration for Chelsea job

Former Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann, has decided to remove himself from consideration for the role of Chelsea manager, according to reports.

Nagelsmann had been a top contender to fill the position at Stamford Bridge after Graham Potter’s departure in early April. However, Chelsea was surprised by Nagelsmann’s decision to withdraw his interest in the job.

While Chelsea had always maintained that they had no favorites in the hiring process, insiders believed that Nagelsmann was the frontrunner to take over the Blues next season, especially after they decided to move on from former Barcelona and Spain boss Luis Enrique who was an early favorite.

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly another top candidate on Chelsea’s list for the manager position, along with Vincent Kompany, who is admired for his successful work in revamping Burnley and guiding them back to the Premier League in his first season as their manager.

Outside candidates include Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim and Luciano Spalletti from Napoli who is on course to deliver a Serie A title for the Naples club.

Chelsea officials have stressed that their process to identify the next manager will be thorough and lengthy, with a focus on finding the ideal candidate to lead the Blues’ rebuilding efforts.

The club hopes to appoint a new manager before the end of the current campaign, with the intention of taking over on the first day of pre-season.
