Despite ending up on the losing side, the Solid Miners’ shot-stopper was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player

Nasarawa United goalkeeper, Suraj Ayeleso has been voted as the most valuable player of the 2016 Federation Cup.

Ayeleso didn’t concede a goal in the cup completion but was on the losing side in the final against FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

Nasarawa United lost 5-4 on penalties after the game failed to produce a goal at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Sunday.

The former Kwara United goalie beat out competition from FC Ifeanyi Ubah midfielder Alberico Da Silva and his club teammate Thomas Zenke for the prize.

“It’s a great honour to have been recognised,” Ayeleso told Goal.

“This will spur me to perform better in future.

While recalling the final which his team lost, Ayeleso said, “We clearly dominated the game but the goals refused to come. That’s football for you.

“I must admit we aren’t happy about the loss. It is a hard pill to take.

“Our fans applauded our moves but a winner had to emerge in the shootouts. We are so sorry for letting them down.”
