Nigeria bag WAFU hosting rights

Nigeria will stage the 2021 WAFU Cup, according to a statement signed by the title sponsors of the sub-regional tournament.

The two-week tournament will be played in September 2019.

Senegal will host next year’s edition also in September after Ghana hosted the revamped bi-ennial championship last year.

The home-based Eagles lost in the final of the 2017 WAFU Cup to hosts Ghana.

It proved to be a good preparation for the local Eagles as they also reached the final of this year’s CHAN in Morocco.
