The Nigerian Armed Forces have registered a total of 17 medals on Day Three of the African Military Games (AMG) going on in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The team secured 5 gold medals in Women’s wrestling, 6 silver medals in Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling, and 4 bronze medals in Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling.
The Nigerian team also claimed two gold medals in handball, triumphing over Ghana in the final of both the men’s and women’s events.
The breakdown of the medals won so far as at the time of filing this report is 7 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals.
In men’s football, Nigeria lost narrowly by 1-0 to bitter rivals Cameroon while Algeria defeated Equatorial Guinea 2-0 in another match.
Nigeria will however battle for the bronze medal with the Equatorial Guineans at the third place to be decided at the main of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium here in Abuja on Saturday.
