Reports emanating from the Benin Republic said former Nigerian league star, Razak Omotoyossi, has passed away.
According to reports, the Nigerian-born Benin Republic international gave up the ghost this morning.
Details of his demise were still being awaited as at the time of filling out this report, with the Beninese football authorities expected to release an official statement to confirm the development.
Omotoyossi played for some clubs in the Nigerian league before he left for the Benin Republic later on.
Apart from playing in Nigeria, the 38-year-old forward also had stints in South Africa, Libya, Syria, Moldova, as well as Sweden and France.
He was the first player to score for the Benin Republic at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He will mostly be remembered for his heroics in the Squirrels of Benin Republic’s 4-1 demolition of Togo in the 2008 AFCON qualifiers, where he scored all four goals for his country, finishing as joint top scorer in the qualifying series in the process.
