Nigerians were physical, had opportunities to win the game ―Senegal coach, Cisse

In his post match comments after the international friendly between Nigeria and Senegal at the Hive Stadium on Thursday, Senegal manager Aliou Cissé revealed that they played against physical opponents.

And he has insisted that the game which ended 1-1 was more like a derby not an international friendly between the two West African teams.

“It was a derby! It’s a big game for us and I think it was a big game for Nigeria. It was physical yes but at the same time we proved that we could play ball,” Cisse told reporters.

He added : “They had opportunities to win the game, us too. The 1-1 draw is good both for Nigeria and Senegal.”

“But the most important is not the result. We’re preparing for the World Cup and we have to play against big teams. Nigeria is one of them. Senegal, too.”

Per the latest Fifa ranking, Senegal are the second best team in Africa, while Nigeria are seventh.
