Nimrod returns as Volleyball Federation President

… promises continuous growth of the game

Musa Nimrod has been re-elected as the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) at an Elective Congress of the Federation which was held on Monday at the Indoor Sports Hall, package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Nimrod, who won a third consecutive term, having first elected in 2017, promised to continue to advance and transform the game while adding that the Federation would introduce fresh initiatives designed to enhance the profile of volleyball in Nigeria and beyond with focus on grassroots development.

“We are not resting on our past achievements but instead looking forward to what lies ahead. Over the next four years our focus will be on grassroots development. Our focus is not on past accomplishments but on future opportunities. We will continue to prioritize grassroots development with clear pathways from the U-15 category through to the senior level.

“With the elections now concluded, our focus is firmly on action. We await the formal inauguration by the National Sports Commission, after which the newly elected board will commence full operations,” Nimrod said.

While Prince Babatunde Omisore and Architect Adamu Tenimu emerged as the first and second vice president respectively other zonal representatives are DCP Stephen Hasso (retd), North East; Bolcit Amakiri, North Central; Kingsley Nwosu, South East and Famous Daunemigha, South South. Despite emerging as president and vice president, Nimrod and Omisore still represent the North West and the South West zones in that order.

Dauda Saje emerged as Players’ Representative, Samuel Timothy as Technical Representative and Comptroller Frank Onyeka as Sponsor Representative.

The Federation’s calendar for the remainder of the year is expected to be busy as Nigerian teams will be participating in several international competitions, the U21 Volleyball Championship in Mexico, the U-18 World Championship in Qatar, the Senior World Volleyball Championship in Australia, the African Youth Games in Angola among others.
