NIPOGA 2017: Al-Makura warns athletes against doping

NASARAWA state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura, has charged athletes participating in the forthcoming Nigerian Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) to stay away from any performance enhancement drugs.

Al-makura gave the charge, on Tuesday in Lafia when he hosted the management of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa and A3 Foundation, promotion partners of the games scheduled to kick off on April 26.

The governor who was represented by deputy-governor, Silas Agar, also promised that the state government would accord the games the needed financial and moral support, to enhance its success.

Al-makura stated that, his government is committed to supporting such useful ventures in order to engage youth meaningfully for the overall good of the state and the country at large.

Speaking earlier, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa who doubles as the president of NIPOGA, Professor Shettima Abdulkadir Saidu appealed to the governor to support the event financially and morally to give it a boost.

He informed that the institution has been able to put the pitch and other facilities in place to ensure a hitch-free Games.

Saidu said the games which is christened “Nasarawa 2017” would be officially flagged off by the governor.

Meanwhile, the president of A3 Foundation, Ambassador Aisha Audu-Emeje, said as a promotion partner, the foundation has been able to secure partnership with Supersports and other relevant organisations to give the Games the needed boost.
